Since learning she was cancer-free in 2012, Brianne 'Breezy' Bochenek has participated in a triathlon, hiked the half-dome at Yosemite and grew her hair long enough to pull it back into a ponytail.
Breezy, 11, had to make the tough decision to have her leg amputated following a bone cancer diagnosis in 2011. Today she keeps busy working to increase her stamina and acts as a mentor with the Challenged Athletes Foundation.
"I don't want a leg that holds me back," Stan Bochenek recalled his daughter saying after her bone-cancer diagnosis at 9 years old.
The prosthetic leg by Ossur, rewarded to her from the Challenged Athletes Association, has only pushed Breezy forward.
In May, only days after she received the prosthetic leg for running, she swam, biked and ran the Wildflower Triathlon. She helps work mobility and running clinics for challenged athletes, and has also shared her jaw-dropping singing talents with the organization.
