San Ramon Brush Fire Burns 10 Acres

A total of 15 homes on Estancia Court and Pradera Way were briefly evacuated, fire officials said.

SAN RAMON, CA -- A grass fire on the western edge of San Ramon south of Crow Canyon Road burned about 10 acres Sunday. Seventy-five firefighters from three departments kept flames away from a nearby housing tract, a San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District official said.

Firefighters responded about 3:55 p.m. to a grass fire near the 700 block of Pradera Way, said Dan McNamara, a battalion chief with the San Ramon Valley district. A total of 15 homes on Estancia Court and Pradera Way were briefly evacuated, McNamara said.

No one was injured, said McNamara, who added that the fire was "completely controlled" before 7 p.m.
It wasn't known tonight what caused the fire, which was battled by firefighters from the San Ramon Valley, Contra Costa County and Cal Fire departments. An air tanker also made one retardant drop on this fire before
that fixed-wing plane was reassigned to the Quimby Fire near San Jose.
