Despite El Nino, Rain Forecast Looks Bleak

Weather forecasters are predicting the next two weeks will be dry in the Bay Area, according to officials with the National Weather Service.

The outlook for the next 16 days shows no rain, an official NWS Twitter message said Sunday.

NWS officials posted the message because residents may be wondering when the rains will start since the rainy season is under way, NWS forecaster Bob Benjamin said.

“Models are showing a persistent dry pattern” for the next 16 days, he said. It’s not unusual for the first two weeks of October to be dry, he said. The rains typically start in mid October, Benjamin said.

But it may be later than mid October before the rains begin, he said.
