Double Fatal Accident Closes I-680 Briefly And Injures Two
Two people died early Sunday morning in a collision that injured two others on Interstate Highway 680 in San Ramon, near Dublin.
SAN RAMON, CA — Two people died early Sunday morning in a collision that injured two others on Interstate Highway 680 in San Ramon, near Dublin. The crash closed the roadway for more than an hour, the California Highway Patrol said.
Around 3:30 a.m. a Volkswagen Jetta traveling southbound on I-680 north of Alcosta Boulevard left the roadway on the right, swerved back onto the road and collided with the center median wall, CHP said.
A Ford Fiesta traveling southbound then collided with the Jetta, severely damaging both cars and igniting a fire that engulfed the Jetta in flames. The two people inside were trapped and died inside, while another was taken to John Muir Walnut Creek with major injuries, according to CHP.

The driver of the Fiesta was also transpored to John Muir with moderate injuries, CHP said.
