SAN RAMON, CA — A veterinary emergency hospital opened Wednesday in San Ramon.

The 24/7 hospital at 2431 San Ramon Valley Blvd. is run by Veterinary Emergency Group and seeks to serve pet owners who need emergency help during times when their family veterinarian is closed, according to a statement from the New York-based company. Owners may stay with their pets during treatment, surgery and overnight hospitalizations, and speak with a veterinarian when they call.

Owners will see a doctor right away — no need to first fill out paperwork or wait in the lobby, the company said.

“When an emergency happens, VEG puts the pet first and allows the pet parents to be an integral part of their beloved pet’s care and recovery," said company founder David Bessler in a statement.

The hospital is currently limiting the number of pets and owners that may be inside due to the coronavirus pandemic.
