Funeral Services Held for Toddler Killed in San Ramon Crash on I-680

The community can donate stuffed animals and toys to honor the life of 3-year-old Elijah Dunn. Breaking

SAN RAMON, CA — The East Bay community has dropped off donations of toys and stuffed animal to honor the life of a 3-year-old San Ramon boy tragically killed in a car accident on I-680 in San Ramon on Sept. 9. Elijah Dominic Dunn will be laid to rest Wednesday. He would have celebrated his fourth birthday on Sept. 26.

Services for Dunn were scheduled for 11 a.m. at St. John's Catholic Church in San Lorenzo, according to Grissom's Chapel and Mortuary.

On Sept. 9, Elijah, his siblings and mother were inside a black 2007 Toyota Camry parked on the shoulder of the highway after they ran out of gas. Pleasanton resident Yarenit Liliana Malihan’s white 2008 Toyota Sequoia crashed into the back of the Dunn's car, CHP officials said. The collision claimed Elijah’s life and seriously injured his siblings and mother.

Malihan, 39, who is the wife of an Alameda County Sheriff’s deputy, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and gross vehicular manslaughter by CHP officers after the fatal crash on Highway 680 near Bollinger Canyon Road.

Police officials said Malihan was driving on a provisional license the night of the deadly collision as the result of another alleged DUI-related crash in Pleasanton. According to Alameda County Court records, Malihan was arrested in June and faces three charges, including child cruelty and driving under the influence, which were filed in August.

Toy and stuffed animal donations can be dropped of at Grissom's Chapel and Mortuary located at 267 E. Lewelling Blvd. in San Lorenzo.
