Here's How To Get Rid Of Your Christmas Tree: San Ramon

Trees will be picked up by the city on the week of Jan. 6, but Boy Scouts can pick up trees on Jan. 4 for $10.

SAN RAMON, CA — The year is 2020. Your Christmas tree is looking dry, limp and a little bit sad. Brittle tree needles litter your living room floor.

Now what?

Artificial trees can be recycled by contacting Alameda County Industries of San Ramon, but real trees will be collected during the week of Jan. 6. Place your trees curbside on collection day after removing lights, decorations and stands, the City of San Ramon said on Facebook. Trees taller than six feet should be cut in half and trees should not be wrapped or bagged.

San Ramon Boy Scouts will conduct a curbside pickup of trees on Jan. 4 for a suggested $10 donation. Artificial trees, or trees with flocking or tinsel can't be recycled into wood chips, so they won't be accepted, according to the scouts.

Sign up for the Boy Scouts pickup here. Make checks out to BSA or Boy Scouts of America.
