Homes With Good Walkability Rates For Sale in San Ramon

The obesity epidemic in America has been well-documented.

The Centers for Disease Control estimates two-thirds of adults in the United States are overweight and half of overweight people are obese (one-third of the adult population overall).

A new study contains the latest obesity rates for Contra Costa and Alameda counties. Both are below the national numbers.

Diet and exercise are obvious solutions to this problem. Walking is considered one of the best ways to get daily exercise because it's easy to do, it can be done by most age groups and it's relatively injury-free.

With that in mind, we thought we'd take a look this week at homes for sale that are within walking distance of shopping centers, schools, parks and other facilities.

Overall, San Ramon has a walkability rating from walkscore.com of 32. The site describes the city as "car dependent."

However, this three-bedroom, two-bathroom home at 2762 Canyon Creek Drive has a walkability rating of 82. It's listed at $699,000 and is described as close to shopping areas and schools.
