Laura Bratt to run for SRVUSD Board of Trustees in Area 3
Laura is passionate about empowering our educational community to deliver a strong, supportive academic program for all of our students.

Parent of 4 current students, public education graduate and advocate, small businesswoman, and communications professional, Laura Bratt has announced that she is running for the San Ramon Valley Unified School District’s Board of Trustees open seat in Area 3.
“After months of having conversations about the community’s distrust in our current board, I decided that it was time to step up and bring a much-needed perspective to the table.” said Laura Bratt. “I am dedicated to bringing transparency, equity, and compassion to our school board in order to empower our entire educational community to work together to deliver a strong, supportive academic program for all San Ramon Valley Unified School District students. It's time to have real conversations about our challenges and successes, ensuring that all voices are heard, and to find effective and fiscally responsible solutions that prioritize equity across our broad spectrum of communities, all through the lens of real compassion.”
With her current positions on the SRVUSD Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) Stakeholder Committee and Iron Horse Middle School’s Site Council as well as her experience as an elementary school language immersion program foundation president, PTA board member, college-level online instructor, and school and community volunteer, Laura Bratt has insight into the issues and challenges our district faces. This insight along with her expertise in communication and her proven ability to lead effective collaboration will help leadership break down the barriers between our board and our teachers, staff, administration, students, and families by creating authentic, full-circle communication, allowing for greater transparency and help to build back trust. Laura Bratt is a parent, not a career politician, and plans to initiate a straightforward communication framework, creating opportunities for further community engagement in decisions that affect them, and to encourage full disclosure of the district’s goals and outcomes so all of our stakeholders can more easily understand the reasons for district decisions.

As a woman who grew up in a multi-racial family and a proud ally for our LGBTQ+ community, Laura Bratt takes diversity, inclusion, equity, and belonging seriously. The culture and climate of our school-sites and entire district need to be addressed with a foundation of cultural literacy and anti-racist education that truly embraces our diverse communities, celebrating and empowering all of us. Bratt points out “It is time for us to all be brave and work together to break down structural marginalization. Excellence is a group effort and as a leader, I will work to bring everyone together in celebration of our unique differences.”
Once elected, Laura Bratt will address the safe transition back to on-site learning from our current COVID-19 remote learning model, tackle the 2020-21 and future budget shortfalls, and prioritize safety, school climate, equity, mental and social health, inclusion, and strong, supportive academics so that all of our students will be empowered to learn.
