Norris Canyon Shooter to Stand Trial

A Norris Canyon man will stand trial for attempted murder and other charges after shooting a property manager through his door during a routine eviction in September.

Mike Ghoneim, 42, denied wrongdoing in a preliminary trial earlier this month and stated that he fired the gun as a "warning shot" according to a deputy's post-arrest interview with the defendant in the San Ramon Express.

The next court date is set for Jan. 31.

The first count of attempt to murder a peace officer was reduced to attempted murder, according to the Contra Costa District Attorney's Office.

Ghoneim will face three counts of attempted murder, as well as other charges.
