Orchestra Gradus ad Parnassum Swept Audiences At Carnegie Hall

Youth orchestra from San Ramon makes a history

On June 22, 2018, at the end of its third season, youth Orchestra Gradus ad Parnassum based in San Ramon performed at Carnegie Hall Stern Auditorium, New York, arguably best concert venue in the world. It was a part of Viennese Masters Invitational organized by Music Celebrations International which selected three youth and adult orchestras from different US states. By reviews from professional musicians and audience members, OGP clearly came out as a winner. Enthusiastic crowd of around 2000 people attended this event.

The program featured technically difficult Mozart’s Overture to opera Don Giovanni, elegant March K249 from Haffner Serenade and rare Schumann’s Introduction and Allegro appassionato Op. 92 for piano and orchestra. The orchestra was led by Artistic Director, pianist and conductor Temirzhan Yerzhanov and Music Director Imant Airea.

Youth aged 10-17 from Tri-Valley and Silicon Valley cities had four days full of fun tours around New York and rehearsals. For most of them it was first such trip where they made new friends and learned about culture and history. Tour coordinator Klara Frei was helped by many volunteers and parents.
