Read Mother’s Touching Christmas Thank You Note to San Ramon Police

"This program made it possible for me to put gifts under our tree this year."

SAN RAMON, CA — Police officials say the letter says it all. A grateful mother, whose family fell on hard times after a year without an income, sent a touching thank you letter to the San Ramon Police Department after her family’s holidays were made a bit brighter thanks to its annual community toy drive.

“I’d like to thank you, all of the volunteers and donors who made this program made it possible for me to put gifts under our tree this year. It has been a humbling experience but I feel blessed to be part of such a caring, generous community.”

Earlier this week, the training room at the police department was transformed into Santa’s magical Tri-Valley workshop.

“Numerous families in need came through the workshop and selected toys for their children,” police said via social media. “A huge thank you to Target for their support and Santa's Elves (our wonderful volunteers) who made this event happen by helping out and wrapping presents all day long!”

In November and December, police held several events in San Ramon and invited the community to stuff the cruiser full of unwrapped toys. Benevolent residents who could not stop by to drop their donations during scheduled events were provided with a police pickup service. The donated toys will help bring smiles to the faces of many Tri-Valley children in need on Christmas morning.
