San Ramon Girl Named Harlem Globetrotter's Honorary Captain After Heroic Act
Alexa Lewis has been recognized after calling 9-1-1 when her mother had a medical emergency.

The world famous Harlem Globetrotters have recognized San Ramon’s Alexa Hile Lewis as a Junior Phenom for her heroic work that helped her mother last April. Alexa will be invited to join the Globetrotters as an honorary captain at the team’s Summer Skills Clinics in San Ramon from Thursday, July 11 to Saturday, July 13.
Alexa caught the attention of the Globetrotters after she impressively helped her mother in a time of need. When her mother became nauseous and had trouble breathing, Alexa picked up the phone and managed to stay cool and composed when she dialed 911. Her swift action helped her mother receive the medical attention she needed within minutes.
Known as Ambassadors of Goodwillâ„¢, the Globetrotters bring their charitable spirit to every city they visit. The Globetrotters look for stories of amazing kids who spread their own goodwill and demonstrate traits like helping others, assisting in the community, demonstrating outstanding teamwork, and being a positive role model. The Globetrotters Junior Phenom Award is the team’s way of saying thank you, and applauding those individuals who go above and beyond.Â
