San Ramon Roads Offer Very Smooth Driving: Report

SAN RAMON, CA — When talking pavement, San Ramon roads are smoother than the average in Contra Costa County, according to the Metropolitan Transportation Commission.

In the nine-county Bay Area, there are 43,500 "lane miles" of local streets and roads, which achieved an average pavement condition index of 68 out of 100. In Contra Costa County, the average pavement condition index is 70.

Pavement condition index ranges from 0 to 100, with 0 representing a failed road and 100 representing brand new.

Some cities far outrank the average. Across the entire Bay Area, Dublin achieved the highest average index of 86, which is considered "very good" and well above Alameda County's ranking of 68.

San Ramon ranked 79, which is deemed "good," but on the cusp of "very good," according to the MTC.
