San Ramon Showing Its Green Thumb

Details of the Crow Canyon Road Median Landscape Improvements to be revealed at June 25 City Council meeting.

Like home gardeners all over inspired by the warm weather, officials at the City of San Ramon are starting to think about planting a bounty of flowers.

The City Council will hear a presentation at its June 25 meeting on the proposed Crow Canyon Road Median Landscape Improvements. The meeting is set for 7 p.m. Visit the City of San Ramon website for the full agenda and staff reports.

The project extends from San Ramon Valley Boulevard to Bollinger Canyon Road.

The landscaping would include replacing the original irrigation system that was installed in 1985. Anyone who drives by the narrow median has probably seen patches of brown, dying plants, which landscapers hope to replace with drought-tolerant plants.

The project has a budget of $480,000 funded by the Citywide Landscaping Fund, which is supported by homeowners. The project analysis suggests the improvements would reduce irrigation maintenance by 50 percent and water use by 20 percent.
