Storms Will Bring Rain, Wind To Tri-Valley: NWS

After a few days of warmer weather and sunlight, rain is expected to return to the Bay Area by midweek, according to the National Weather Service. The region's local office in Monterey says a weak storm system from the north should hit Wednesday, followed by a heavier and stronger system that will bring with it high winds on Friday.

Meteorologist Spencer Tangen said the rainfall for Wednesday's storm is expected to be no more than 0.25 or less in the region, and most areas might get no more than 0.1 of an inch of rain. Heavier amounts of rain are possible in the Sacramento Valley.

Friday's storm is expected to bring moderate to heavy rains at times, with 1-2 inches expected in the North Bay, 0.5-1 inch in the immediate Bay Area, 0.25-0.5 in the Monterey Bay area and 1-2.5 inches in the coastal mountain ranges. That storm is expected to taper off by Saturday morning.

Winds are expected to be 20-30 mph Friday, with gusts of up to 40-50 mph. Showers are expected to linger Saturday. No weather watches or warnings are currently in effect.
