2 Suspected Of Drug Possession Arrested In Santa Cruz Hotel Room

Police said the two were arrested on suspicion of numerous offenses, including resisting arrest.

SANTA CRUZ, CA — Police arrested two men late Friday night who were allegedly found in a hotel room in Santa Cruz with drug paraphernalia. According to police, at 11 p.m. officers responded to complaints about suspicious activity from a first-floor room of a hotel in the 600 block of Riverside Avenue.

Officers arrived and located a suspicious vehicle associated with the hotel room, then identified the room's occupants as 32-year-old Sean Oliver of Santa Cruz and 21-year-old Tyler Huffman of Felton, police said.
When the officers confirmed that Oliver was on probation, they conducted a compliance check at the hotel room. When officers knocked on the door to the room, the occupants inside allegedly locked the door and refused to allow the officers inside, police said.

With help from a K-9, officers forced their way into the room and detained both suspects, police said.
Police learned that Huffman was also on probation. An investigation revealed that the men allegedly possessed methamphetamine, digital scales and other drug paraphernalia. They also allegedly disposed of a large amount of the methamphetamine before the officers entered the room, police said.
