Dominican Hospital Foundation announced that with a generous gift of $25,000 from Randy and Janet Krassow, the hospital will purchase a ventilator to be used in Dominican Hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) for its tiny patients with breathing difficulties.
The Drager Babylog ventilator will be used by neonatologists, nurses and respiratory therapists at the only Level 3 NICU in the county. The specialized ventilator protects the baby’s lungs while providing needed ventilation.
At the recent Holidays d’Eleganz fundraiser for Dominican Hospital, Randy and Janet Krassow heard of the need for several ventilators. After the event the couple approached Hospital President Nanette Mickiewicz, MD, and offered to donate the funds through their family foundation to purchase one of the medical marvels.

“We are fortunate to have a healthy family, in large measure due to the excellent care that Dominican Hospital provides. This gift is made in honor of our grandchildren Ryan, Ross & Lillie June. We know that this gift will help lots of newborns thrive so that their parents and grandparents can experience the joy that children bring to a family,” said Randy Krassow on why the couple made the gift to the hospital.
“The support we received from the attendees at the d’Eleganz was fantastic and we raised enough to purchase one of the ventilators, along with other needed improvements” says Dr. Mickiewicz. “Then the Krassows stepped up with their generous offer that would double our capabilities for serving the families of premature or sick babies in our community.”
