Soquel/Morrissey Project Update

The Santa Cruz County Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) is managing construction for the one-mile Highway 1 Soquel/Morrissey Auxiliary Lanes project.  For more information about the project, please visit the project webpage: http://sccrtc.org/projects/streets-highways/highway-1-aux-lanes/

The following activities are scheduled for this period:

-      ‘Construction Area’ signs will be installed throughout the project limits, including one funding sign in each direction.

-      Temporary striping and barriers (k-rail) will be placed on north and southbound directions of the highway to define work areas and protect motorists from construction activity.  Highway lane closures associated with this work will occur periodically between 9:00 pm and 4:00 am, Monday through Friday. There will be intermittent ramp closures at the Soquel interchange for short periods of time in the early morning hours.

-      A biologist will perform pre-construction field surveys.

-      Environmentally sensitive areas will be enclosed with fencing.

-      Vegetation and trees will be cleared in areas to be graded.

Adjacent residents should prepare for noise and dust associated with these activities.  Please drive safely and exercise caution in construction zones.
