City Of Santa Cruz To Host Holiday 'Parking For Hope' Program

The sixth annual Parking for Hope downtown holiday parking program will last from Wednesday, Dec. 18, through Wednesday, Dec. 25.

SANTA CRUZ — The City of Santa Cruz in partnership with the Downtown Association of Santa Cruz will host the sixth annual Parking for Hope downtown holiday parking program from Wednesday, Dec. 18, through Wednesday, Dec. 25. The proceeds from street meters during these eight days will be donated to Hope Services, a local nonprofit, while the usual parking rates will apply.

Hope Services has helped to keep Pacific Avenue and other downtown Santa Cruz streets clean for over 20 years while providing training and support services to adults with developmental disabilities.

Parking for Hope has been well received by the public since it began as a pilot program in 2014. To date it has generated a total of $144,102 in funds for Hope Services. This includes $30,862 that was donated in 2018.

Downtown street parking meters will be posted with placards describing Parking for Hope. Parkmobile pay by phone parking fees of 35 cents per transaction will be waived for the eight program days.

The City’s Wharf holiday parking program will remain the same as last year with the first hour free of charge from Tuesday, Dec. 17, through Tuesday, Dec. 24; Dec. 25 is free all-day.
