Concert and Art Show For Mental Health Awareness
Pianist Tanya Gabrielian, accompanied by Jonah Kim and Helen Kim, will perform repertoire by classical composers with mental illness

Internationally acclaimed Pianist Tanya Gabrielian, Cellist Jonah Kim and Violinist Helen Kim will perform selections by Mozart, Shostakovich, Beethoven and Gershwin at the “The Beauty Within: Music, Art and Stories of Resilience” concert on Sunday, April 22, at Samper Recital Hall, Cabrillo College, Aptos.
Gabrielian will weave remarkable stories of hope and healing about the composers throughout the performance. Her platform addresses the stigma around mental health. Playing repertoire by composers with mental health issues, art becomes a celebration of life by demonstrating that every person, regardless of personal circumstances, can contribute beauty to the world.
An art exhibit with work created by individuals with lived mental health experiences will be shown pre and post concert and also at the 17th Avenue Studios. Information from the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) of Santa Cruz will be available.
