Cooking Fire Turns Into Vegetation Fire In Santa Cruz
More than 50 firefighters from different agencies responded to the early morning blaze.

SANTA CRUZ, CA -- A cooking fire sparked a nearly two-acre blaze early Tuesday morning in Santa Cruz. The fire was reported around 3 a.m. at 333 Golf Club Drive, about a mile from Highway 9, according to the Santa Cruz Fire Department.
Arriving firefighters found an acre blaze growing at a moderate rate in shrub and grass. The fire was contained at two acres about an hour later but crews stayed at the scene for several hours to mop up, officials said.
More than 50 firefighters from Santa Cruz, Scotts Valley and Aptos responded to the incident.
