SANTA CRUZ, CA — Santa Cruz's iconic downtown movie theater will open its doors this week after new owners stepped in to reopen the venue to the public.

As Lookout Santa Cruz first reported, Regal's Santa Cruz Cinema 9 planned to permanently close and offered employees the chance to relocate elsewhere.

Now dubbed Santa Cruz Cinema, the theater at 1405 Pacific St. is slated to reopen to the public Thursday, according to its website.
