'Electrical Source' To Blame For Santa Cruz House Fire
Damage to the home is estimated at around $200,000.

SANTA CRUZ, CA — Firefighters extinguished a blaze that began in the kitchen of a Santa Cruz residence Saturday evening, fire officials said Sunday. Crews responded to a report of a structure fire at 112 Ross St. around 5:30 p.m., finding an attic fire with smoke pouring from the roof, according to fire officials.
Firefighters from the Santa Cruz Fire Department and the Scott's Valley Fire District battled the blaze, bringing it under control in 20 minutes, fire officials said. The residents weren't home at the time of the fire, and there were no injuries to either firefighters or civilians, according to fire officials.
Damage to the home is estimated at around $200,000. After an investigation with the homeowner and witnesses, the cause of the fire turned out to be an electrical source in the kitchen ceiling, fire officials said.
