Massive Roadwork Project Begins In Santa Cruz: Traffic Delays

Work on the Broadway, California Street and Soquel Avenue Overlay Project is expected to last through January.

SANTA CRUZ, CA — The City of Santa Cruz has begun the Broadway, California Street and Soquel Avenue Overlay Project. The work started Monday and will continue weekdays into January with construction hours from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Traffic control will be in place during construction hours with details updated at www.cityofsantacruz.com. The public is advised to seek alternate routes when possible.

The Broadway, California Street and Soquel Avenue Overlay Project includes grinding existing pavement, installation of hot mix asphalt pavement and roadway striping.

The project, funded by Measure H tax dollars, is rehabilitating pavement in five locations:

· Broadway from Clay Street to Ocean Street

· California Street from Laurel Street north for 250 feet

· Intersection of Soquel Avenue and La Fonda Avenue

· Plymouth Street at Highway 1 southbound on-ramp

· 280 feet of Murray Street
