Fatal Gilroy Crash Injured 4 Boulder Creek Residents: CHP
The crash that occurred at about 8:30 p.m. near Gilroy on SR-152 injured a Boulder Creek couple, 2 children and a Union City man.
GILROY, CA — A 51-year-old Gilroy man who died in a crash Sunday night on State Route 152 near Gilroy has been identified as Gonzalo Hernandez-Mendez, the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office reported.
The crash that occurred about 8:30 p.m. where the highway intersects with Bloomfield Avenue, near the Casa de Fruita stores and restaurant involving tractor trailer truck and two other vehicles, the California Highway Patrol Hollister-Gilroy station reported.
The multi-car crash blocked SR-152 in both directions for at least four hours that night.

Mendez was traveling eastbound in a 1996 Toyota when he slowed to make a left turn into a driveway. A driver identified as Robert T. Ezra, 53, of Union City crashed a 2007 Sterling big rig into the victim's vehicle. The force of the crash caused another collision in the westbound lanes. Ezra sustained minor injuries, CHP said.
Four Boulder Creek residents suffered moderate to major injuries in their 2018 Ford. They are identified as Deborah Davi, 49; Joseph Davi, 50; Sophi Davi, 12; and Alysha Flowers, 11, CHP added.

Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors in the crash, according to CHP.
