Free Car Seat Safety Check Being Offered At SCPD
The check will help ensure your child is as safe as possible during road trips.
SANTA CRUZ, CA — The Safely Home program is offering a free car seat check at the Santa Cruz Police Department for anyone who needs help transitioning their child from a rear facing to a forward facing car seat. The event will take place Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at 155 Center Street.
During the event, certified child passenger safety technicians will offer the following assistance to parents and caregivers:
- Ensure that their child’s car seat has not been recalled.
- Advise on how to choose an age, height and weight appropriate car seat.
- Instruct and demonstrate how to install and use the appropriate car seat in the vehicle.
- Instruct and demonstrate how to correctly place a child in the appropriate car seat.
- Answer any questions parents or caregivers may have regarding child passenger safety.
Anyone who is interested in attending the free event needs to register here for a car seat appointment. Appointments are 1 hour long; up to two car seats per appointment.
