Health Services Agency Expands Leadership Team

Jennifer Herrera and Tiffany Cantrell-Warren will serve as assistant health services directors.

The County of Santa Cruz’ Health Services Agency is pleased to announce the addition of new assistant health services directors, Jennifer Herrera and Tiffany Cantrell-Warren. Both bring a wealth of experience and training to their new roles. As Chief of Public Health, Herrera oversaw the County’s public health programs and services, and helped lead the County’s coronavirus pandemic response. Cantrell-Warren has been an executive with City of Long Beach Health and Human Services, where she oversaw community health programs and led the equitable distribution of CARES Act funding.

“I’m beyond happy to fill out HSA’s executive leadership with two accomplished, experienced and creative individuals as we continue to design a health care system that lifts up all members of our community,” HSA Director Mimi Hall said. “Please join me in welcoming these two dynamic individuals to our team.”

“I am grateful for the opportunity to continue serving the people of Santa Cruz County in this new role,” Herrera said. “As we emerge from the pandemic, HSA must continue to be guided by our core values, including equity, justice, compassion and respect.”

“I’m excited to be joining the Santa Cruz County team,” Cantrell-Warren said. “As a graduate of Soquel High School, I look forward to bringing my skills and experience back home to help improve the health and well-being of all County residents.”

Herrera has overseen the County’s COVID-19 pandemic response after being promoted to Chief of Public Health in October 2019. She served perviously as Director of Nursing and has represented the County on the County Health Executives Association of California and Bay Area Regional Health Inequities Initiative. Herrera has a Master of Public Health from Emory University, a BS in Nursing from USF and Public Health Nurse certification.

In her work with the City of Long Beach, Cantrell-Warren’s duties included departmental growth and integration, community relations, staff development, implementation of equity initiatives, financial oversight and continuous process improvement. She previously worked for Dignity Health St. Mary Medical Center in Long Beach, and has a Master of Business Administration and a BA in International Development Studies from UCLA.

The Health Services Agency promotes and ensures a healthy community and environment through education, outreach and the delivery of comprehensive health services.
