High Surf Advisory Issued Saturday For Santa Cruz Co. Coastline
A swell train from the Gulf of Alaska is expected to boost waves from the North Bay to Big Sur, weather officials say.
SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CA — A large swell train headed toward California from the Gulf of Alaska is expected to bring swells of 13 to 15 feet and breaking waves of 20 to 24 feet on Saturday morning, prompting National Weather Service officials to issue a high surf advisory.
Santa Cruz County and other parts of the California Coastline from the North Bay to Big Sur are under the advisory from 9 a.m. Saturday to 3 p.m. Sunday, weather officials say. Swells are expected to die down Sunday morning.
Officials urge people to stay out of the water, or remain close to lifeguards. People should stay off the rocks, as rock jetties could become deadly in high surf advisory conditions.
