Hong Kong Boy, 7, Hit By Car In Santa Cruz County

The vehicle was traveling north on Highway 1 south of Ocean Street when it struck the child walking across the road.

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CA — A 7-year-old boy from Hong Kong was hospitalized after a vehicle
struck him on state Highway 1 in Davenport in Santa Cruz County on Sunday evening, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The vehicle was traveling north on Highway 1 south of Ocean Street when it struck the child walking across the road shortly after 6 p.m., CHP officials said.

The child suffered moderate injuries and was taken to Stanford Medical Center on a medical helicopter as a precaution.

The 25-year-old driver of the Ford sedan was not injured or arrested.

The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
