Inmate Accused Of Fighting Deputy In Escape Attempt: SCCSO

The inmate was on a medical visit to Dominican Hospital when he tried to escape, according to the sheriff's office.

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CA — An inmate attempted to escape custody while on a medical visit to Dominican Hospital on Monday, according to the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office. The inmate, 32-year-old Joshua Nay, pulled away from restraints and fought with a sheriff's deputy and a hospital security guard, sheriff's officials said.

Nay allegedly tried to kick the deputy and bit the security guard, according to authorities. Despite his attempts, Nay was taken back into custody and cited for a count each of attempted escape and battery. His bail was set at $25,000.
