Lunch Hour Tours of Santa Cruz Construction Sites Offered

Santa Cruz is offering tours of construction sites in celebration of National Public works Week. They will run from May 22-25.

From Santa Cruz Public Works: The City of Santa Cruz is offering tours of current construction sites in celebration of National Public Works Week. These tours of East Cliff Drive Sidewalk/Sewer Relocation, Branciforte Creek Bicycle Pedestrian Bridge, Measure H Overlay Street Paving and Eastside Alley Sewer projects are free of charge Monday, May 22, through Thursday, May 25, from 12:15 to 12:45 p.m.

The community may tour the Eastside Alley Sewer Project on Thursday, May 25, in celebration of National Public Works Week.

On Monday, May 22, the community is invited to meet Senior Civil Engineer Steve Wolfman for a tour of the East Cliff Drive Sidewalk/Sewer Relocation, officially titled the East Cliff Emergency Repair Project. Visitors will see and hear about the process to remove a portion of damaged concrete sack wall and relocate 150 feet of failing handrail, sidewalk and sanitary sewer line away from the coastal bluff. The tour group will meet in front of the Natural History Museum, 1305 East Cliff Drive.

Tuesday, May 23, Associate Engineer Nathan Nguyen, will provide a tour of the Branciforte Bicycle Pedestrian Bridge Project. Both an active transportation bridge from San Lorenzo Park over Branciforte Creek and a paved multi-use path under the Soquel Avenue Bridge are being built. The community may tour the Measure H Overlay Street Paving Project on Wednesday, May 24, in celebration ofNational Public Works Week.

Associate Engineer Ricardo Valdés will explain project details and answer questions about the Measure H Overlay Street Paving Project that is repaving arterial and collector streets on Wednesday, May 24. The tour location will be posted at www.cityofsantacruz.com/calendar.

Finally, on Thursday, May 25, a tour of the Eastside Alley Sewer Project is offered. This project will replace approximately 7,500 lineal feet of deteriorating clay sewer pipeline with new polyvinyl chloride (PVC) pipeline. Senior Civil Engineer Steve Wolfman will lead the tour and answer questions. The meeting location is Pacheco Dog Park on Pacheco Avenue.

The community may tour the Branciforte Creek Bike Pedestrian Bridge Project on Tuesday, May 23, in celebration of National Public Works Week.
