What is an Impact Fee?

Impact fees are a charge on new or expanded development to mitigate the impact of growth in the City of Santa Cruz. Our City General Plan emphasizes the need for quality childcare and public safety services and the creation new impact fees ensures future needs are met. Watch the April 13, 2021 Council meeting or read the staff report to learn more about these new fee areas.
