Multiple People Injured In Fiery Santa Cruz Crash
A Sig-Alert was issued Tuesday morning for state Route 1.

SANTA CRUZ, CA -- Multiple people were injured Tuesday after a big rig apparently crashed into slow traffic on state Route 1 in Santa Cruz. The incident happened around 9:52 a.m. near Ocean Street, prompting authorities to issue a Sig-Alert, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The CHP said the big rig caused more than a dozen cars to crash on the road, sparking a fire.
Drivers were told to use Morrissey Boulevard as the incident blocked the road for several hours.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the incident but believe the big rig's brakes contributed to the crash.
