New Leaf To Nix Water Bottles From Shelves By Earth Day
The local grocery chain said it will phase out single-use water containers in an effort to reduce waste.
SANTA CRUZ, CA — New Leaf Community Markets will stop selling single-use water bottles by Earth Day in an attempt to reduce waste.
The "Earth-loving announcement" came Tuesday as the company seeks to remove some 70,000 single-use plastic, aluminum and glass bottles from its shelves per year. Bottles a liter or smaller will be impacted.
New Leaf will continue to sell refillable single-serve still waters, single-serve bottles of sparkling and flavored water, and larger water jugs.
