Public Truth Forum Scheduled In Santa Cruz County

California's Transparent Review of Unjust Transfers and Holds Act requires that law enforcement to hold the public meeting.

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CA — Santa Cruz County sheriff's and probation officials will host a community forum Tuesday to share information and the practices they use when interacting with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

California's Transparent Review of Unjust Transfers and Holds Act, which was signed by former Gov. Jerry Brown in 2016, requires that law enforcement hold the meetings. The law is also known as the Truth Act.

Sheriff's and probation officials are also required to share data on whether they provided ICE access to anyone.

The public forum will begin at 6 p.m. in the County Government Center board chambers on the fifth floor at 701 Ocean St. in Santa Cruz.
