Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk Rides Now Open Daily

Also: Here's when out-of-state residents will be eligible to swing by the iconic Santa Cruz amusement park.

SANTA CRUZ, CA — Looking for some summer fun after a long year of trying to stay home? Rides at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk are now open daily.

At least 15 rides will be open weekdays, while at least 20 rides will be open on weekends and holidays, weather permitting, according to the boardwalk. Weekday wristbands for rides all day long will cost guests $40 a pop, while weekend wristbands cost $50.

The boardwalk, which reopened in April, recommends that guests make reservations in advance as walk-up purchases are subject to capacity limits, though season pass-holders will always be accommodated. Santa Cruz County is currently in the least-strict tier of the state's color-coded, four-tiered COVID-19 risk assessment system, which means that amusement parks can accommodate up to 35 percent of their capacity. Workers must be tested weekly and other safety restrictions remain in place, according to state guidelines.

Even fully vaccinated guests must still wear face masks because the boardwalk is considered a crowded outdoor venue, per state guidelines, according to the boardwalk.

The boardwalk also announced that out-of-state residents looking to swing by the Santa Cruz landmark will be eligible to make reservations beginning June 15, the date that California is slated to do away with its tiered COVID-19 risk assessment system that determines restrictions on businesses in a particular county. Until then the boardwalk seeks to verify that guests are California guests by requiring them to enter their zip code at the time of purchase.
