Santa Cruz Boardwalk Celebrates 30th Anniversary Of 'The Lost Boys'

Celebrate the 30th anniversary of cult classic vampire film 'The Lost Boys' on the Santa Cruz Boardwalk June 21st.

SANTA CRUZ, CA - From the desk of the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk: The Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk is celebrating the 30th anniversary of The Lost Boys. The cult classic vampire movie will be shown free on Main Beach in front of the Boardwalk on Wednesday, June 21 at 9pm.

Filmed on location in Santa Cruz in 1986, the film directed by Joel Schumacher stars Kiefer Sutherland, Corey Feldman, Jason Patric, Jami Gertz, and the late Corey Haim. According to critics, “the movie blends horror, humor, and plenty of visual style with standout performances from a cast full of young 1980s stars.” Santa Carla was the fictional name for Santa Cruz used in the movie.

In addition to watching The Lost Boys movie free on the Beach, Boardwalk visitors purchasing a ride wristband after 5pm this Wednesday will receive free glow-in-the-dark vampire teeth, while supplies last. Unlimited ride wristbands are just $14.95 + taxafter 5pm on Wednesday and Thursday nights with any empty Pepsi beverage container.

Other Lost Boys-related specials at the Boardwalk on Wednesday, June 21 include:

The movie continues to be of interest to Santa Cruz visitors from around the globe in search of a closer look at the film's location. This year Visit Santa Cruz County published a Lost Boys Location Map, and produced a short video about the film. Corey Feldman brought his band of Angels to the Catalyst last Friday.
