Santa Cruz County Forms Economic Recovery Group To Plan Reopening

An economic recovery council has been formed in Santa Cruz County to help with reopening the local economy in coming months.

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CA — An economic recovery council has been formed in Santa Cruz County to help with reopening the local economy in coming months, local officials announced Saturday.

The Save Lives Economic Recovery Council, formed by the county and Community Foundation Santa Cruz County, is composed of representatives from a variety of businesses that expected to open as shelter-in-place orders change in coming months, according to a release from the county.

The council will align with Gov. Gavin Newsom's Resilience Roadmap and public health experts, and work with both the county health department and SAVE Lives Santa Cruz County.

"A safe path forward for our economy requires the combined wisdom of our medical and business leaders, and I am pleased to see this critical effort, which has been in careful planning stage, get underway," County Administrative Officer Carlos Palacios said.

The chair of the 13-member council will be Kris Reyes of Seaside Company, the county announced.
