Santa Cruz County Heat Advisory Extended
Also: Much of the county is considered to be at "high" or "very high" risk for residents developing heat-related illness amid the heatwave.
SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CA — As California's heatwave bears on, Santa Cruz County — like much of the coastal Bay Area — has been placed under an extended heat advisory.
The heat advisory will be in effect through 9 p.m. Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.
Many beaches will see highs in the 80s. As with all heatwaves, visitors are likely to flock to coastal regions in search of respite from exceptionally high temperatures in inland California, where temps could reach 95 to 108 degrees.

As of Monday, residents of mountainous areas of Santa Cruz County were considered to be at high or very high risk of developing a heat-related illness. The rest of the county was considered to be at moderate risk, meaning people who are sensitive to the heat should exercise caution.
Officials warn that residents should be wary of heat exhaustion or heat stroke after spending prolonged time outdoors. People are especially vulnerable if they must spend a lot of time outside, don't have air conditioning, are elderly, are a young child or have chronic ailments, NWS wrote.

Drink lots of water, stay out of the sun and stay in air conditioning, NWS said. Keep an eye on family and neighbors.

With all the thunderstorms lighting up the area, keep in mind we are still experiencing a prolonged heatwave. The Heat Advisory has been extended for most coastal areas. Today will be tricky, as a shallow marine layer will make or break coastal temperatures.#CAwx #CAHeat pic.twitter.com/4LTtrqxm7g
