Santa Cruz Deputy Rescues Baby In Davenport
Officials said a family called 911 from the side of a Davenport road when its infant stopped breathing.

DAVENPORT, CA -- A Santa Cruz County deputy rescued a baby Monday by using infant CPR. Officials said a family called 911 from the side of a Davenport road when its infant stopped breathing.
Deputy Bob Gidding, who was in the area, used infant CPR to help the baby breathe again, officials wrote on Facebook.
"The baby remained unconscious and Deputy Gidding continued his first aid routine, applying additional back blows (a form of the Heimlich Maneuver for infants)," the Facebook post read. "The baby finally coughed up milk, opened her eyes, and remained conscious and alert, breathing freely."
