SANTA CRUZ, CA – As kids anticipate Halloween, costumes and trick-or-treating, it's important to ensure they're safe and secure on the night of spooky thrills. Checking to see how safe are your Santa Cruz neighborhoods is one way to start.
The California Department of Justice has a Megan's Law web site, which provides information on registered sex offenders, pursuant to California Penal Code § 290.46, so the public can better protect themselves and their families.
According to the website, there are 110 registered sex offenders in Santa Cruz, 21 of whom are in violation. Fifty do not have current addresses, including 22 listed as transients and one as incarcerated.
