Santa Cruz Invites Public to Grand Opening of Chestnut Park Playground

Santa Cruz Mayor Cynthia Mathews will speak at the ribbon-cutting and refreshments will be served.

The City of Santa Cruz welcomes young and old to celebrate the grand opening of Chestnut Park Playground with community members and City officials. The ribbon-cutting will take place at 3 p.m. on Thursday, July 7, at 60 Chestnut Street in Santa Cruz.

The new playground was created for the Chestnut Street neighborhood. A brand new play structure has been installed with slides, climbing ladder and monkey bars. Water-thirsty turf has been replaced with an ADA-friendly surface. A fence has been installed to keep children safe while playing.

The Parks and Recreation project was funded with approximately $45,000 in Capital Improvement Program funds.
