Santa Cruz Mountains Vintners Launch Wine Club

SANTA CRUZ MOUNTAINS, CA — Wines of the Santa Cruz Mountains is launching a new wine club to give people a taste of the acclaimed winegrowing region amid a time when travel and tasting room visits are under restrictions.

People can sign up now for the first shipment March 11, according to the Santa Cruz Mountains Winegrowers Association. Virtual tastings with winemakers will be arranged to complement each shipment.

"With over 70 wineries and 200 growers in the region, even locals will have the chance to step outside of their comfort zone and discover new favorites," the association said in a statement.

The Santa Cruz Mountains American Viticultural Area was called "California Wine's Best-Kept Secret" by Food & Wine magazine last year.

Shipments will include four bottles and cost $140 to $200 and can either be delivered or picked up from the Wines of the Santa Cruz Mountains Aptos office (355 Spreckels Drive, Ste. B). Three shipments will be delivered per year.

People can sign up for The Pinot Collection (four pinot noirs), The Classic Collection (one chardonnay, two pinot noirs, one Bordeaux-style wine) and The Mountain Bordeaux Collection (cabernet sauvignon and Bordeaux varieties).

Wine club members may also receive a 15 percent discount on wine purchases and other perks, such as event invitations.
