Santa Cruz Shooting: 2 People Traded Fire, Witnesses Say

SANTA CRUZ, CA — Witnesses say two people traded fire early Monday morning in downtown Santa Cruz before fleeing in cars, police said.

No arrests have been made. Detectives continue to investigate.

The shooting was reported around 12:23 a.m. in the 100 block of Elm Street at Pacific Avenue, Santa Cruz police said. About 20 shell casings were found at the scene.

No gunshot victims were found or treated at local hospitals, police said.

Detectives looked for witnesses and video surveillance footage at the scene.
