Highway 17 Reopens: Large Tree Cleared From Road
The CHP said the collision was first reported around 3:35 a.m.

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CA —Both lanes of northbound state Highway 17 are now open just outside the Santa Cruz city limits after a fallen tree and traffic collision closed the freeway earlier Thursday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The CHP said a box truck struck the fallen tree in unincorporated Santa Cruz County around 3:35 a.m. The tree blocked both lanes. CHP units closed the highway at its junction with state Highway 1.
At least one lane of southbound Highway 17 remains closed just south of Sugarloaf Road as of 5:50 a.m., the CHP said.
