See Mountain Lions Wrestle On Santa Cruz County Porch

The resident managed to surreptitiously (and safely) capture video of the big cats as they shared a few playful moments with each other.

BOULDER CREEK, CA — Two adult mountain lions were caught on camera wrestling on the back porch of Boulder Creek home this week. Resident Ben Slaughter woke up and discovered the feisty felines outside his bedroom window after hearing the big cats scuffling and playing with each other.

Slaughter, who is a Boulder Creek firefighter, used his phone to surreptitiously (and safely) record the rare sighting from inside the house, which he posted to Facebook.

"These two decided to wake us up tonight. Right at the foot of our bed."

Slaughter's incredible videos of the clandestine meeting have garnered hundreds of thousands of views since they were shared on March 5. Slaughter told KSBW News the encounter was a “once in a lifetime experience.”

"It was crazy because they didn't even notice us really, they were so enveloped in themselves," Slaughter said.

The former lumber town is a heavily wooded area located in Santa Cruz County mountains and is known to have plenty of mountain lions. However, the primarily nocturnal cats are generally solitary animals, except during mating season, and go out of their way to avoid contact with humans, according to the California Department of Fish and Wildlife.
