Teams are Ready to Roll for the 2019 Human Race Walk and Fun
Registration is Still Open for the 5 Mile Walk and Fun Run on Saturday, May 11th

With just days left until Race Day on Saturday May 11th, Human Race teams have raised nearly $160,000.
"Santa Cruz County residents are stepping up as they always do to share their generosity. With continued support leading up to the race, we expect to be on pace with previous year’s fundraising,” states Volunteer Center Director of Community Development and Human Race Director Mariah Tanner.
“86 participating Human Race Teams have been out in the community raising funds since March 26th and race day represents the culmination of an enormous amount of effort for these non-profits, schools, community groups, and churches,” states Tanner.

Teams will continue to rally donors until race day this Saturday with online donations accepted until Midnight on May 12th, while cash and checks will be accepted through May 31st.
"Every participating team is so deserving. Everyday, they create more opportunity and transform lives in our community. We are proud to partner with them not only for greater fundraising success but also to raise awareness about their important work,” continues Tanner.

Nearly 10,000 donors annually give to participating teams, making the Santa Cruz County Human Race the largest collaborative fundraiser on the central coast. In the last five years, event proceeds have generated more than one million dollars for the local service sector.
“I am proud to be a part of a community that clearly wants to give and to show up for those who are making our community a better place to live. I am so excited to watch it all unfold on race day with that parade of smiling community members waving their banners along West Cliff Drive,” states Tanner.
Race Day organizers expect a turnout of nearly 2000 individuals to converge along West Cliff Drive in Santa Cruz on Race Day. Race Day includes pre-race yoga and breakfast, a 5 mile course, live music in route, yummy bites, DJ Sparkle, and family friendly festivities at the finish line Parking Lot Party.
Community members are encouraged to come in costume and craft their best signs to celebrate this year’s theme Walk for Change.
“It is going to be a fabulous day of celebration and fun,” states Tanner.
