Be Wary Of King Tides Along Santa Cruz County Shores This Week

Unusually high tides are expected to pound the shores of the Central Coast and Bay Area from Jan. 10 to Jan. 12.

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CA — King Tides are projected to hit California's coastline from the Bay Area to the Central Coast, National Weather Service officials say. Sea water could settle in low-lying areas such as roadways, underpasses, coastal trails, sidewalks or beach access areas.

King Tides, or unusually high tides, are expected to hit Jan. 10 to Jan. 12, with high tide possibly reaching up to 6.74, NWS said on Facebook. On Friday, high tide is expected to hit at 10:22 a.m., while NWS projects it will hit at 11:07 a.m. on Saturday and 11:54 a.m. on Sunday.
