Woman Brandishing Knife Prompts Water Street Bridge Closure
The woman was allegedly brandished the knife as people attempted to walk across the bridge.

SANTA CRUZ, CA — After more than two hours, a woman brandishing a knife Tuesday on the Water Street Bridge was eventually taken into custody by the Santa Cruz Police Department.
Santa Cruz police responded to three different calls about the woman shortly before noon. She was allegedly brandished the knife as people attempted to walk across the bridge.
The woman walked into a tent on the bridge. After negotiations and help from county mental health officials, Santa Cruz police were eventually able to safely enter the tent and take the woman into custody.

She was arrested and booked for brandishing a knife, resisting and delaying a police officer, according to the SCPD.
During the incident, the SCPD shut down the Water Street Bridge. The Santa Cruz Fire Department was also on hand.
